Who Are We? What Is Our Identity?

Mark 8:27 - 29

And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesara Phillipi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?

And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.

And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

*** During our christian walk with Jesus we should know who he really is. There are many people we hang with or talk to regularlly that do not know him as we do. Many rumors has been said about who Jesus is: a homosexual, magdelene's lover, a natural man. We, as believers, should know his true identity: The son of the living God, our saviour.

*** If we do not know the Lord, and his true identity; how can we really know ourselves? We are his children, and we are part of him. This enables us to witness to others and tell them about the goodness of the Lord.

Mark 8:34

And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

*** Jesus tells us, If we, or any one else want to be a follower of his we must put aside our own pleasures and do his work.

Mark 8:36-38

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

***Does it benefit us to get everything we want in life and lose our soul to the pits of hell?

***There is nothing as important and precious as our soul.

*** Jesus also tells us, That we can not afford to be asham of him on this journey of unbelief and sin. If we are, he will be asham of us, when he returns in the glory of his Father. Many times we will not testify of Jesus and his goodness when we are around our unsave love ones.  This is really the best time to talk about him, so others will be drawn closer to him.

Who do we know the best, him or them - our family and friends?

Lets get to know Jesus, our Lord and Saviour better.

Until we meet again soon.
